Buddy

Buddy is a loyal, lively, and wonderfully affectionate ten-year-old who has been a treasured part of my life, and it’s with a heavy heart that I’m seeking a new home for him due to development within my career. He’s a true “dog’s dog” — happiest with a ball in his mouth, grass under his paws, and plenty of space to run, sniff, and explore. Clever, responsive, and eager to please, Buddy understands far more than just basic commands and brings endless joy to anyone who loves a playful companion. He is fantastic with people of all ages, including children who adore watching him chase a ball again and again, and he has lived harmoniously with dogs, cats, horses, and even spent time around busy yards.

What Buddy needs most is consistency and someone who will enjoy including him in their daily rhythm. When he’s walked regularly, engaged with, and given clear boundaries, he is incredibly well-mannered, calm, and content — a quiet cuddler in the evenings and an all-round gentleman in the home. His favourite thing in the world is fetch, and he will happily chase a ball until he’s ready to curl up for a rest. Buddy is healthy, clean, and full of heart. He would make the perfect addition to a loving family or individual who can offer him the attention, activity, and companionship he truly thrives on.

Zephyr

Zephyr is a gorgeous, gentle and affectionate 3 year old trailhound, with bundles of energy and lots of love to give. He is toilet trained, and responds well to basic commands like sit and wait. His recall is generally good, unless he sees or smells another dog he wants to play with, so when we walk him in areas with other dogs, we keep him on a long lead. He is extremely well socialised and plays beautifully with any dogs he meets – he has no aggressive tendencies at all. He is good with children and plays well with our cat too.

We adore Zephyr, but we are looking for a new home for him because it’s become increasingly clear that he needs to be in an environment with one, or more, companion dogs, and with fewer people. Although he loves people, and children in particular, he gets very anxious when anyone leaves the house, and so would be better suited to a quiet house without children where he can have a more settled routine. He does not cope well with being left alone, in the house or the car, and will howl and pace until someone returns. However, when left with another dog he will settle down and wait fairly calmly. He is at his happiest when he is racing around outside with a doggy friend and we know that once he finds a home where he can do this every day he will be so much more settled and will make someone the most wonderful pet.

Wilson

Tucci *Special Needs Puss*

Tucci is a handsome 3-year-old white and ginger boy who hasn’t had the best start in life, but is ready for a loving forever home. He’s playful, confident, very friendly and full of personality.

We’re looking for a patient and understanding family who can give Tucci the time and support he needs to settle in. In return, he’ll offer loyalty, companionship, and lots of love.

Sadly, Tucci experienced neglect and mistreatment in his previous home, which has led to some behavioral challenges. He has made great progress in his foster home, but a move to a new environment may cause some temporary setbacks before he fully settles again.

For example, Tucci used to nip at hands when they were used to get his attention. With consistent training, this behavior has improved significantly and he no longer bites. However, adopters should be aware this may briefly return in a new home, and will require patience and gentle reinforcement to manage.

When stressed or frustrated, Tucci may pull out some of his fur—likely a coping response from his earlier experiences. This behavior has decreased as he’s grown more secure, but it can reappear during times of change. A calm, consistent home will give him the best chance to overcome this habit over time, though it may not disappear completely.

None of this is Tucci’s fault—he simply needs someone willing to understand his past and help him move forward.

Tucci is very interested in other companion animals, though his high energy can sometimes be overwhelming for them. Because of his background and sensitivities, a home without young children would be best.

Despite everything he has been through, Tucci has so much love to give. He wants to trust, he wants connection and play and he tries so hard. His name means “safe” or “secure” — exactly what we hope his new home will be.

Tucci is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, parasite treated and litter trained. He would be happy to visit a potential new home for a trial period to ensure it’s the right fit for everyone. If you’d like to know more, please fill out the Adoption Questionnaire – West Cork Animals and I will be happy to call you and answer any questions you may have.

Loki

Loki is a super bright, gorgeous and affectionate 3 year old black and white collie who
bonded very quickly with our family. He is so tuned he knows just when he is allowed up to
hug or curl up on the couch beside you. He loves belly rubs and scratches under his chin
and on his chest. He can almost talk! When we come home from work he has a lovely
growl that sounds just like ‘Helllloooo’.
Loki loves to play and still at times gets the zoomies if he wants to play. He loves tug on a
rope, tracking games, foraging, and walks and is not afraid of water. With promise of a treat
he is super fast to ‘sit’, ‘lie down’, ‘roll over’, ‘come’, ‘touch’, ‘through’, ‘find me’ , ‘wait’ , ‘stay’
and ‘cross (the road)’. Once exercised Loki is then very happy to chillout for large parts of
the day.
Loki’s breakfast is at 7am and dinner is at 5pm. We usually hold some food back during the
day to work on training. We use Red Mills Engage Salmon for a good diet as he had a
sensitive tummy when he came to us. Now though he also is mad for little pieces of carrot
or cheese, or rabbit or fish dog treats.
Loki is generally well behaved off lead and makes good choices skirting around other dogs
at the beach. He prefers human company though. He enjoys walking on a longish lead
where it is quiet and familiar.
While Loki is excellent within our family of 5 (3 adults and 2 teenagers), we got him when he
was nearly 2 and he seemed to have had a rough time before then. He was skinny in the
beginning, he healed and gained weight. At the start he worried and drew back if anyone
went to pet him from the right or touch his collar, he still hesitates in doorways, seemingly
worried he will be locked in or out. If we plump the cushions he seems to think we’re being
aggressive and he will try to stop us.
Our house is a busy one with lots of visitors during the week, there can be lots of noise and
routine changes all the time. While Loki is pretty good with strangers we meet out walking,
in our house Loki can be anxious around visitors, especially anxious visitors! He is scared of
the vet too, and in these kinds of situations he may try to control the situation by snapping.
To live his best life Loki needs a quiet home of 1 or 2 adults who are calm, confident and
responsive to the ongoing rehabilitation needs of this bright, sensitive and very gorgeous
collie. He is a wonderful companion for the right owners

Loki does have a history of bieng reactive to certain triggers within the home, and does have a history of snapping/snarling/lunging when such triggers present. so an experienced home is a must

Zena

Meet Zena – A Golden-Hearted Girl with So Much Love to Give 🐾

At 8 years old, Zena is a calm, affectionate Staffordshire Bull Terrier who’s ready to spend her golden years in a home filled with love, comfort, and companionship. She may be a little older, but don’t let that fool you—Zena still enjoys gentle walks, a good sniff in the park, and, most of all, curling up beside her favorite humans.

Zena has a sweet, gentle nature that wins over everyone she meets. She’s well-mannered, housetrained, and happiest in a quiet, predictable environment where she can truly relax and be herself. While she prefers to be the only pet in the home (she likes having all the love to herself!), Zena makes a deeply loyal and loving companion.

She’s spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped—ready to move in and start her new chapter with someone who sees the beauty in giving a senior dog a second chance.

💛 Zena is proof that the best love often comes with a little grey around the muzzle.
