Xena

We are sadly looking to rehome our nearly 5-year-old German Shepherd, Xena, due to housing circumstances.
Xena is a loyal and protective dog who is excellent with children and has been part of a busy family environment. She is okay with cats, though supervision is advised, especially around food as she can be food dominant.
She would make a great guard dog, as she is naturally wary of visitors. She can be unsure at first, but with calm, dog-friendly people and proper introductions, she settles well and builds trust.
Xena is a reactive and nervous dog, particularly around other dogs, likely due to limited socialisation during COVID. Because of this, she would be best suited to a home with no other dogs and with an owner experienced in handling reactive or anxious dogs.
She has been keyhole neutered (spayed) and is microchipped.
Xena has never been crated, travels well in the car, and is good on the lead. She understands and follows basic commands and is a clever, responsive dog. She is also very expressive—she’ll even put her ears back when she knows she’s done something wrong.
She is very alert and will bark at almost anything (even small movements like leaves or dust), so she needs an owner who understands this behaviour and can manage or train it appropriately.
Ideal home:
No other dogs
Someone experienced with reactive or nervous dogs
A calm, structured environment
Secure outdoor space
This is a very difficult decision for our family, and we are committed to finding Xena a safe, patient, and permanent home where she can thrive.
