Danny

Danny is a 10 month old large, mixed breed dog who has a soft, affectionate temperament.  He came into us from an elderly owner who wasn’t able to give him the time, training or exercise that he needs.

Although Danny has all the traits to be a wonderful family pet we will have to be careful about the age of any children in his home, simply because he is unaware of his size and strength and he doesn’t lack for enthusiasm! He is still just a big puppy…

Danny will not do well with leaving hours.  He spent a lot of his life to date alone in a yard when really all he wants to do is to follow someone around.  We are determined to find him a home where he has human or doggie company for most of every day.

An active, nurturing home is what Danny needs. He would be fine to live with another dog, he absolutely loves them, but it would need to be  a happy playful dog who is mellow enough to accept a new large presence in their home.

Danny is strong onlead.  He walks well on a harness, but he really has no idea of his size yet.  A home with a large garden or access to nice offlead walks, along with regular training on the lead would be helpful.  He is terrific off the lead with instant recall.

Danny is extremely clean in his kennel, house-training should not be a problem.  However, he is very unsure of what people want from him and will still do the submissive peeing we see from pups when they are uncertain or worried.  Danny needs consistent kindness and encouragement to shed this puppy behaviour.
