Mossie

Mossie is a 5 and a half year old Maltese x Shihtsu who came into our rescue centre recently. His owner had genuine health issues and was unable to care for him any longer. Mossie is a quirky little dude, he will probably need an adult-only home. We are hoping he might have a companion dog in his future home.
Everyone who meets Mossie gets the low growl. What does this growl mean? It means he wants 2 seconds to investigate you before you encroach on his space. We were initially a bit worried, but actually he quickly warmed to everyone here, he LOVES the affection and attention and bonds nicely with his favourite people. Growling is his way to express insecurity, there is no sign of aggression or any snap to follow the growl.
Mossie enjoys other dogs and is learning more civilised behaviour from being around them. These opportunities to play and express himself have a lovely effect on his behaviour so it might be nice for him to have a buddy in the home.
We need his future home to have experience of quirky small dogs and to respect his need to vocalise his worries. He is a great, clever, loyal lad who needs to replace old habits with braver, happier habits. This is already happening and we know it will continue in an experienced, easy-going home.
So, no children in Mossie’s future home. Older teenagers will be considered if they can respect Mossie’s initial need for a bit of space. Another dog would definitely be preferrable. Rural or urban would be fine, an enclosed garden would also be preferrable.
Please read the Adoption Process on our website if you are interested in this cutie. You can then apply for him via the Rehoming Questionnaire.
