Dash

Gentle Dash is an approx 1 year old collie who spent his entire puppyhood on a chain. We see huge potential in this soft lad – his future home will be starting from a great place with his happy, grateful nature – but there is work to do to in terms of all of the basics.

Dash loves his bed, it seems to be a revelatory experience for him! He also loves attention and handling and is absolutely dying to bond with an owner.  He has discovered freedom from the chain and is giddy with wonder in the fields! So far his recall is great because he loves people so much (anything for the cuddle!)

Dash does not like being lead-trained – he was chewing on the lead in frustration and confusion. We are only a couple of days into lead work and, because he is so keen to please, progress is being made.  Patient gentle lead-training sessions will form part of his needs in his new home.

We have had Dash mingle nicely with loads of dogs here at the centre. Socialising him has been very smooth, he is happy to share his space with others but usually dashes about doing his own thing.

Dash will need house-training, which is trickier with dogs that have been chained or confined. It will be something to be worked on by his new owner – clear, consistent vocal rewards as well as a set daily / nightly routine will help him learn. This is a clever lad, he will get it.
