Freddie

Freddy is a very happy, eager, two and a half year old collie. He came to us because his elderly owner could not meet his needs. Since he arrived to the rescue he has loved meeting all the dogs, the people and is really whole-hearted in his attitude to being here!
Freddie is overweight due to never having any real walks or exercise. The weight will fall off him now that he is getting lots of playtime and activity – we are looking for owners who will continue to reduce his weight. It won’t be difficult, he is a young active lad!
Freddie has not had any input on lead. He isn’t bad, but can be strong on the collar. A bit of work with a harness is the better approach for his future owners. That said, if he were in a rural home / small-holding he is the type to follow his owner everywhere, his recall is fantastic, he walks along just by you.
Other dogs are a bit of a novelty for Freddie, he is only now learning how to play. He walks really well on group walks at the shelter, he can’t quite keep up with the others but he gives it his best shot! A home with another dog should work fine, otherwise he will make a lovely solo pet.
Freddie should also settle fine with cats. He might chase a bit initially for play but he would have no intent to harm them. Be vigilant with early-days introductions with cats and they will settle fine.
We would love a home where Freddie has someone around most of the time. He spent a lot of his life largely alone, and we want him to always be able to express his affectionate, loyal self with an owner who will become the centre of his universe. Kids 10+ for Freddie.
